Nanotechnology researcher Wang Miao is taken to the Joint Operations Center by police officer Shi Qiang, who's investigating the mysterious suicide wave among scientists worldwide, and recruited to sneak into an organization called the Frontiers of Science to help the investigation. When Wang Miao is contacted by the leader of the organization, Shen Yufei, she introduces him to a sophisticated VR video game called Three-Body, but soon he discovers that it's more than just a game.

S01E05 Wang Miao saw the universe flickering
Mu Xing, a new media reporter, deliberately bumped into Shi Qiang's car and took the opportunity to talk. She found the suicide case of a scientist and wanted to find clues from Shi Qiang. Shi Qiang saw through Muxing's trick and turned off Muxing's recorder without revealing any information to her. Wang Miao came to the radio astronomy observation base station, and Sarishan received Wang Miao, but he believed that the overall fluctuation of the universe background that Wang Miao said was impossible. However, at the time agreed with Shen Yufei at 1:00 a.m., the fluctuation began to appear on the monitoring instrument, and the smile on Sarishan's face solidified, even turned into shock.
