Set during the Cold War period in the 1980s, The Americans is the story of Elizabeth and Philip Jennings, two Soviet KGB officers posing as an American married couple in the suburbs of Washington D.C. and their neighbor, Stan Beeman, an FBI Counterintelligence agent.

S02: Technological advances have escalated Cold War tensions to an all-time high, and Philip and Elizabeth face the growing threat of discovery. As their assignments grow more deadly, their family is in more danger, and their loyalties are tested like never before.

S03: Philip and Elizabeth find themselves at odds over their daughter’s future now that the KGB is determined to recruit her and FBI Agent Stan Beeman has rededicated himself to uncovering the identities of the Russian spies.

S04: The stakes have never been higher for Philip and Elizabeth as personal and professional dangers continue to challenge the Jennings' mission.

S05: The arranged marriage of Philip and Elizabeth Jennings grows more passionate and genuine in the midst of the escalating Cold War. Paige’s budding romance with Matthew, the son of their neighbor, FBI Agent Stan Beeman, further complicates matters since Stan – Philip’s best friend – remains the greatest threat to the Jennings’ safety.

S06: Philip and Elizabeth’s ability to protect their cover and family’s safety deteriorates. The Jennings struggle to maintain a smokescreen of normalcy, especially around their son who remains ignorant of the spies in his midst. With Gorbachev in power in the Soviet Union, the winds of change are sweeping through Russia and America creating new perils.

Philip and Elizabeth both find themselves faced with painful turns in their various missions. Stan fights to gain access to an American military program that could give him the upper hand in his battle of wills with Oleg.
