But Leonel's dreams are derailed when he's deported to Mexico and discovers that he was never naturalized as an American citizen. In a country where he doesn't speak the language, Leonel unexpectedly finds himself reconnecting with his roots and making new friends who set out to help him find his way back home.

Leonel's frustrations about his immigration status boil over, leading him to a difficult decision. Leonel's struggle to come to terms with his situation leads him to turn his back on Grace. Meanwhile, Miss Meche and Yadi fight over Yadi's involvement with El Gordo and Leonel is drawn into the underground boxing scene. Leonel deals with the news of having lived his whole life as an undocumented immigrant and turns away from Grace. Miss Meche and Yadi have a fight over her relationship with El Gordo. Mery pushes Iker to move in together. Leonel finds himself involved in the world of clandestine fights.
